About the Kalamazoo Environmental Network

Our Mission

The Kalamazoo Environmental Network (KEN) connects people and organizations working to protect and enhance the environment in the greater Kalamazoo area. By sharing information, increasing visibility, and fostering collaboration, we help strengthen the impact of environmental work already happening throughout our community.

Our Vision

We envision a connected environmental community where organizations, volunteers, educators, and residents can easily discover opportunities, learn from one another, and work together to create a healthier and more sustainable Kalamazoo.

We envision a Kalamazoo area where environmental work is visible, connected, and collaborative, and where together, we create greater impact than any one group could alone.

What We Do

KEN serves as a community connector by:

  • Sharing environmental events and activities

  • Highlighting organizations and their work

  • Increasing awareness of volunteer opportunities

  • Encouraging collaboration across groups

  • Making it easier for community members to get involved

What We Don't Do

KEN is not intended to replace or compete with existing organizations.

Instead, we support and amplify the important work already being done by local nonprofits, educational institutions, government agencies, neighborhood groups, and community volunteers.

Our goal is simple:

Connect people. Share information. Strengthen impact.

How We Work

Our network is built on collaboration, respect, and shared purpose.

Participation is flexible and open. Organizations and individuals maintain their own missions and identities while benefiting from greater visibility and stronger connections across the environmental community.

Together, we believe that a more connected community can accomplish more than any one organization working alone.
